It’s Not Just A Flesh Wound:

The Physical and Psychological Impact of Injuries on Athletes

Injuries in sports are inevitable. As the number of sports injuries in adolescents are increasing, there are more studies revealing that there is not only a physical component to injuries, but also a psychological one. Many athletes suffer severe or long-term injuries that cause negative mental effects in the athlete’s brain such as depression, anxiety, PTSD, and more. It is important that athletes know how to train and specialize in their sport properly, so they will not become injured and will not have to deal with the long-term mental diseases that may result from injury.
